Think of the Food Log as your food “tracking” tool to log what you’ve
actually eaten.
Accessing My Food Log |
Click the EAT tab in the main site’s top navigation bar, then click My Food
Log in the sub-navigation menu. Your daily food log will appear. Any foods
already logged will be listed. You will see that the Food Log actually adds up your
calories, grams of fat, grams of fiber, and other nutrients for the foods that you
log, and compares it to the program recommendations.
You have several options for using My Meal Plan:
Viewing Daily or Weekly Food Logs |
You can decide which food log or logs to view:
- To see a daily food log for another day, use the <= Day
or Day => links
- To see your food log for the entire week, select the Week View
option. Then use the <= Week or Week =>
links to find the week you’re interested in seeing

Logging Foods From Your Meal Plan
There are two ways that you can add foods on your Meal Plan to your food log.
- If you eat all of the foods included in your daily meal plan, you
can add all of the foods on the plan to your food log by clicking the Add Whole
Meal Plan link on the My Meal Plan page.
- If you want to add selected foods from your meal plan, you can
click the log food icon on the My Meal Plan for those foods you wish to log.
Adding Other Foods
You can also log foods that you have eaten that are not included in your meal plan,
including recipes from the Flat Belly Diet! Book and Cookbook. You have the following
options:
Search for food to add
- Click the “Search for food to add” link (displayed
under each meal in the food log). A Search Food pop up window appears. This will
allow you to search our database of thousands of foods to find those you need to
add to your food log.
- Type in the name of the food you want to search for. Select the
correct food from the search results list.
- Edit the serving size, if necessary.
- If this is a food that you eat frequently, you can click “Add
to My Favorite Foods” to make it easier to find and log in the future.
- Click “Add to Food Log” to add the new food to your
food log.
Note: If you can’t find a food in our food database, click the Manually
Add Food tab in the search window. This will allow you to manually enter a food,
serving size and the nutrients. Click “add to Food Log” to add the food
and its nutritional information to the food log.
Adding favorite foods
- Click Add a Favorite Food (displayed under each meal in
the food log). The Favorite Food pop up window appears. This will allow you
to search from all of the foods you have designated as your favorites.
- Select the correct favorite food from the list
- Edit the serving size, if necessary.
- Click “Add to Food Log” to add the new food to your
food log.
Removing foods
Click the Remove icon to remove a food from the food log.
Editing serving sizes
Click the Portion link in front of the food name in the log to edit the serving
size. For example, if the food log displays 1 cup of skim milk and you actually
used ½ cup of skim milk, click the 1 Cup link. A pop up window will
appear where you can change the portion size.
Adding repeating meals
It is likely that you eat the same foods for certain meals each day
– for example, cereal for breakfast each day. If so, you can set the meals
to repeat each day to make entry to your food log easier.
- Click the Set Meal to Repeat Daily link at the bottom of
each meal.
